ARTSTATION

All my works can found on my Artstation portfolio page located here. My design process and time windows vary project to project. For these scenes, I like to work on concise areas, taking my time to capture the theme and spirit of their original counterparts.

FORGOTTEN CEMETERY

Partially inspired by the Diablo series, I wanted to create my own place within the mythos of Sanctuary. As I began, I loosely drafted a minor back story of a Zakarum warrior that had fallen in battle long ago and was laid to rest here. After an age, this once lush monument to a mighty warrior had rotted away, leaving only its decayed ruins behind.

As with most of my projects, I began gathering reference material that kept in spirit of the surrounding area of West March. That included forest, terrain and structural assets closely resembling the styling. I raised terrain, imbedded fauna and meticulously placed each tree, stone and building. I decided to add a miasmic fog as my only scene effect to keep things neat. Now only the spirits of the dead haunt these lands.

ROGUE ENCAMPMENT

2025

Inspired by my well spent youth playing Diablo II at the local LAN center until 2am, I decided a skill check was in order and wanted to create a slice of Sanctuary. I began by pulling reference images before fixing on tile size, assets needed and attempting to keep with the spirit and stylization of my first playthrough.

After I had what I required, I began laying the ground work via greybox where structures are located, brush pathing, foliage and lastly minor scene effects to bring it all together. A couple hundred clicks later and this is my faithful rendition of the Diablo II Rogue Encampment featured in act one. Of course the design wouldn’t be complete without a portal to the secret cow level, moo.

GOLDSHIRE

2025

I spent many hours in my early years of gaming walking the long roads within Elywnn Forest, battling Gnolls, Murlocs, Kobald and all manner of wild life. There wasn’t much to work with, as a forest is a forest but I wanted to capture the feeling of Goldshire in this piece. I began with collecting reference material and their associated assets that were available to me.

I started by setting up the scene, sculpting terrain and brushing texture as I went, making adjustments where needed. Working with reference materials, I laid greybox and kept an eye on the wireframe. Taking a step back and satisfied with how things were shaping up, I began adding a good amount of various types of grasses, making sure to cover the correct areas. I can still hear the zones thematic score.
